Wanamaker Organ Day takes placed Saturday, June 2 at Macy’s in Philadelphia.
The 25th annual event features Peter Richard Conte, Philadelphia Brass; The Philadelphia Organ Quartet: Conte, Rudy Lucente, Michael Stairs and Colin Howland; Andrew Ennis and Rick Seifert—using the full resources of the 29,000-pipe organ. Featured at 5 pm is the Fanfares and Flourishes concert, pairing full brass with full Wanamaker.
The Grand Evening Concert at 8 pm features Peter Richard Conte at the Wanamaker Organ with special guests pianist Jeremy Filsell (Rachmaninoff) and soprano Clara Rottsolk (Strauss: Four Last Songs).
Rounding out the festivities are early-bird events Friday; pipe-chamber tours; audio-visual presentations; an optional refreshments pre-concert gathering in Greek Hall Saturday Night, and a Peter Krasinski silent-movie romp ("Wings") on the Greek Hall Wurlitzer.
