East Texas Pipe Organ Festival online

First Presbyterian Church, Kilgore, Texas, Aeolian-Skinner organ

The East Texas Pipe Organ Festival will broadcast its 2020 concerts online November 8–12.

This year, its tenth anniversary, will honor the memory of  William Teague (1922-2020), who was organist-choirmaster at St. Mark’s Church (now Cathedral) in Shreveport for many years.

Presenters include David Baskeyfield, George Bozeman, Casey Cantwell, Elizabeth and Raymond Chenault, Richard Elliott, Faythe Freese, Jan Kraybill, Barbara Owen, Owen Reid, Simon Templet, and Clark Wilson, with special guest Michael Barone acting as master of ceremonies.

The festival will visit the organs designed and finished by Roy Perry at First Presbyterian Church, Kilgore, Texas, and St. Mark’s Cathedral, Shreveport, Louisiana.  And because of the unique ability afforded online to travel to greater distances, the schedule includes the Aeolian-Skinner organs at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Richmond, Virginia; The Cathedral of All Saints, Albany, New York; and Westminster Presbyterian Church, Buffalo, New York.  The newest addition to the roster of performers is young Simon Templet, who will be playing on the 2009 Patrick Murphy organ at St. Patrick’s Church, New Orleans.
