(Houston, Texas) December 9, 2011 - Houston Chamber Choir is excited to support arts education by sharing the beautiful voices of Houston-area youth choirs at Hear the Future, the 13th Annual Invitational School Choral Festival, FREE, on Sunday, January 29 at 4 p.m. at South Main Baptist Church, 4100 Main Street, Houston. Since 1999, Houston Chamber Choir has underwritten these performances to showcase the development of these budding choral sensations and their outstanding directors.
Three student choirs have been selected by Houston Chamber Choir’s Artistic Director Robert Simpson to be showcased at Hear the Future. The choirs will join with the professional musicians of Houston Chamber Choir for a spectacular finale to the performance.
Invited choirs are the Houston ISD Honors Choir conducted by Marianna Parnas-Simpson; the Kahla Middle School Choir from Cy-Fair ISD under the direction of Kammi Estelle; and the award-winning choir from Spring High School under the direction of David Landgrebe and Steffani Dean.
A masterclass with Joshua Habermann, Conductor, Dallas Symphony Chorus and Music Director of the Santa Fe Desert Chorale, on Saturday, January 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Christ Church Cathedral, 1117 Texas Avenue, Houston, extends Houston Chamber Choir’s educational commitment to music professionals.
Participants will acquire advanced score study techniques, explore music from Asia and the Pacific Rim and refine their conducting skills. Registration including lunch is only $50 per person and $25 for students.
