“The Baroque Legacy”

As part of an annual city-wide festival showcasing students and faculty from Mannes College—The New School for Music, the afternoon’s program features pieces from the Baroque era as well as those inspired by Baroque works and composers. The program includes works by Bach, Telemann, Purcell and Couperin; Rachmaninoff’s Variations on a Theme of Corelli; Ravel’s Toccata from Le Tombeau de Couperin; and Passion Revisited, a piano trio by the NY-based Serbian composer, Aleksandra Vrebalov.

“France en Musique”

As part of an annual city-wide festival showcasing students and faculty from Mannes College—The New School for Music, the afternoon’s program features piano and chamber works by Franck, Saint-Saëns, Debussy, Ravel, Honegger and Messiaen, along with Poulenc’s “Sonata for Flute & Piano” and songs by Fauré and Satie.

As part of the annual city-wide festival, Mannes Sounds, featuring gifted students from Mannes College—The New School for Music, faculty and guest performers, the afternoon’s program will include Poulenc’s Sextet for Winds & Piano; Barber’s Variations on a Shape-Note Theme; and fascinating chamber and vocal works by three Polish composers of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries: Chopin, Wieniawski, Szymanowski, and Darius Przybyliski. Songs and piano works by Robert Schumann, Ligeti’s Six Bagatelles for Woodwind Quintet, Five Pieces for Piano by Peter Mennin, Messiaen’s ‘Dieu Parmi Nous’ from La Nativité, and the Shostakovich Piano Trio No. 2 in E minor.
