Peter Krasinski returns to the Kotzschmar Organ to provide live, improvised accompaniment to the 1927 German science-fiction epic, Metropolis.
In a futuristic city sharply divided between the working class and the city planners, the son of the city’s mastermind falls in love with a working class prophet who predicts the coming of a savior to mediate their differences. With the largest budget of the time, Fritz Lang’s masterpiece features huge sets, costumes, props, and crowds of extras. The scale of the stylized world and story around it made Metropolis one of the first major science fiction films and one that continues to be referenced today.
