The 51st Annual William C. (Bill) Hall Pipe Organ Competition was held March 5 at First Presbyterian Church of San Antonio, Texas. Competitors must be current undergraduate and graduate students attending Texas colleges and universities.
The 2022 judges included Joel Bacon, Colorado State University; James Kibbie, University of Michigan; and Crista Miller, Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, Houston, Texas.
Undergraduate winners
1st - $1,100 (Bess Hieronymus Award) – Bruce Xu, Rice University
2nd - $750 – Ryan Giraldi, University of North Texas
$250 prize for Hymn Playing Excellence (Madolyn Douglas Fallis Award) – Ryan Giraldi, University of North Texas
Graduate winners
1st - $1,500 (William C. Wiederhold Award) – YunJung Lee, Southern Methodist University
2nd - $1,000 – John J. Mitchell, University of Houston
$250 prize for Hymn Playing Excellence (Alamo AGO Award) – Olga Wong, Southern Methodist University
