Church of the Transfiguration Lenten concerts

Church of the Transfiguration, Rock Harbor, Orleans, Massachusetts, presents a series of Lenten concerts.

March 5, 7:30 p.m., members of Gloriæ Dei Cantores; works by Tallis, Copland, Rubbra, Bairstow and Liszt.

March 12, 7:30 p.m., members of Gloriæ Dei Cantores; works by Palestrina, Byrd, Lassus, Bruckner, Pärt, and Parker.

March 19, 7:30 p.m., Chara Percussion Ensemble; works by Vivaldi, Handel, Mozart, Eben, and Bruckner.

March 26, 7:30 p.m., members of Gloriæ Dei Cantores; works by Bach, Rheinberger, Poulenc, Casals, and Ešenvald.

April 2, 7:30 p.m., members of Gloriæ Dei Cantores; works by Near, Tallis, Bruckner, Pärt, and Busch.

April 9, 7:30 p.m., SharonRose Pfeiffer, organist; works by Bach, Sowerby, Eben and Dupré, featuring the newly completed instrument restored by Nelson Barden. The organ featured on the cover of November 2021 issue of The Diapason.

April 15 & 16, 7:30 p.m.; April 17, 3:00 p.m., Gloriæ Dei Cantores presents Handel’s Messiah, Parts II and III with organ and orchestra. The work will be performed in three parts over three days—the first half of Part II on Good Friday, April 15, the second half of Part II on Holy Saturday, April 16, and Part III on Easter Sunday, April 17

These concerts are both public and livestreamed from the Church of the Transfiguration.

The prorgam features music by Renaissance masters including Byrd, Palestrina, Tallis, di Lasso, Viadana, and others.
