Baylor University School of Music, Waco, Texas, announces its first National High School Organ Competition, to be held November 4 on the Létourneau Opus 89 at Powell Chapel in the university’s Truett Seminary.
First prize is $1,000, in memory of the late Joyce Jones, longtime organ faculty member at Baylor; second prize is $500, sponsored by Létourneau Pipe Organs. Repertoire includes one J. S. Bach organ work and a contrasting piece. Application deadline is September 15.
