Basilica of St. Mary, St. Paul, celebrates 65th anniversary of Wicks Opus 3047

The Basilica of St. Mary, the Co-Cathedral of the Archdiocese of St. Paul-Minneapolis, Minnesota, is hosting a year-long celebration of the 65th anniversary of the dedication of its “Centennial Organ,” Wicks Organ Company Opus 3047.

The initial program, October 15, features organists Kim Kasling, Christopher Stroh, and Robert Vickery playing works from the inaugural recital by Mario Salvador, October 15, 1950.

The November 8 concert features the Three Chorales of César Franck, commemorating the 125th anniversary of the composer’s death.

Other future programs include an April 15, 2016, performance of organ and choral works by Maurice Duruflé and an October 15, 2016, concert of organ, choral, and brass works featuring the Basilica Cathedral Choir and Brass under the direction of Teri Larson and Basilica organist Christopher Stroh.

The Basilica of Saint Mary, Co-Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul-Minneapolis, will host a year-long series of organ concerts and events to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the dedication of its "Centennial" organ. The series begins 15 October 2015 and runs through 15 October 2016. The Basilica's "Centennial" organ is so-named due its coincidental inauguration during the centennial of the foudning of the Saint Paul-Minneapolis Archdiocese.
