October 8 - 17, 2008, Montréal will host a brand new pipe organ event, the Canadian International Organ Competition (CIOC). Prize money for winners totals $CAN 65 000. The first prize includes $CAN 25 000, a three-year career management agreement with the Karen MacFarlane Agency for the USA, and CD recording with ATMA Classique.
Prestigious international jurists will judge three rounds of competition: Marie-Claire Alain (France), Gilles Cantagrel (France), James David Christie (USA), Hans-Ola Ericsson (Sweden), James Higdon (USA), Tong-Soon Kwak (Korea), Mireille Lagacé (Canada), Ludger Lohmann (Germany), and Dame Gillian Weir, (UK).
Kent Nagano, Music Director of the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, has accepted to be an Honorary Patron for this new Montréal musical event.
