MAPC’s professional octet of soloists will be joined by guest professional singers in a performance of Bach’s  “Jesu, meine Freude,” and “Die Sieben Worte” (Seven Last Words of Christ) by Heinrich Schütz. Evocative motets written by extended members of the Bach Family, Johann Christoph Bach and Johann Ludwig Bach, will round out the program.

Five choirs of MAPC’s graded community children’s choir program – totaling over 140 choristers – will present a concert featuring works that explore a range of emotions from happiness to melancholy, love to despair, and everything in between! Music of Handel, Schubert, and Broadway. The proceeds from the concert will benefit the NYCCC Tuition Aid Fund.

To conclude its 52nd Season, the Saint Andrew Music Society will perform one of Handel’s most virtuosic oratorios, Israel in Egypt. With its evocative word painting and energetic choruses, this work is among the greatest choral works of all time.
