The Diapason September 2017 Newsletter

September 25, 2017

Most of us are now settled back into our new choir and/or academic year, and I trust you are off to an energetic and successful start! This month’s newsletter brings you notes about many musical events across the country and abroad for the 2017–2018 season. Also included are news items about new organs, publications, new recordings, and appointments. Sadly, we note the loss of two veteran champions of the organ world, Robert Clark and Edna VanDuzee-Walter.

We have begun work on our 2018 Resource Directory, which will be mailed to all subscribers with our January issue.  If you have a business that is associated with the organ, carillon, harpsichord, or church music, be sure your business is listed in our directory. If your business has been previously listed, be sure to check the 2017 Resource Directory to make sure your listing is up to date. You can submit any new entries or updates for existing directories to me. Advertising opportunities for the 2018 directory are available until November 1; contact Jerome Butera ([email protected]) for more information.

Be sure to view our video of Jeffrey Smith playing the Schoenstein organ at St. Paul’s Church, K Street, Washington, DC. You’ll certainly be amazed at the talent of the performer and the versatility of the instrument! Our September newsletter sponsor is Schoenstein & Co. (www.schoenstein.com), whose new organ for Grace Episcopal Church of Hartford, Connecticut, is featured on the cover of our September issue.
