The Choir of the Basilica, under the direction of Dr. Peter Latona, performs works by Allegri, Bruckner, Clausen, Emery, Holst, Howells, Lukaszweski, MacMillan, Palestrina, Parsons, Rorem, Tavener, and Wier in the stunning acoustic of the Crypt Church of the National Shrine.  Admission is free and open to the public.  Founded in 1966 as a 40 member volunteer chorus, the now fully professional 26 member Choir of the Basilica has performed regionally and abroad, for Pope Benedict XVI and Pope Francis, and has released numerous recordings.  Masses and concerts have featured collaboration with Seraphic Fire, the Washington Symphonic Brass, members of the National Symphony Orchestra, and the Orchestra of the 17th Century.
