Four Spanish Baroque compositions

Fruhauf Music Publications' monthly posting features four compositions issuing from Spanish Baroque repertory.

Juan Bautista José Cabanilles’ output for organ includes his Pasacalles de 1o tono, a facet of the compositional genre, ostinato, and similar ground bass structures. The two works by Narcís Casanoves i Beltrán include an expressive ariose Cantabile in D-minor and a fugal Paso VII. A closing flourish is provided by José Lidon’s Sonata de 1o tono para órgano con trompeta real, a work that showcases brilliant horizontal reeds found on some instruments.

Please consult www.frumuspub.net for access to these scores, along with many other works for organ solo, choir and organ, and for carillon, all available on a complimentary basis.
